Apparently Germany is going crazy at the moment, I wish I could be there, sounds like great fun!! School is over now, 3 exams coming up, nothing to worry about too much ;) More updates coming up now, finally!

Yooo. We arrived in Byron Bay on monday and it’s great. Best beach weather so far. I’m sorry I’m not showing any of my pictures but I can’t be asked to sit in front of some computer while the sun is shining outside like it is, so y’all have to wait until I get back to Perth to be drowned in pictures.
Thursday is Australia’s Day and hopefully some great fireworks and parties in Brisbane. cya

Howdy folks, howisitgoin’?!?! We’re in Newcastle where we spend one and a half days chilling out on the beach and in nightclubs later. The weather is awesome. Kim went kite surfing, I played heaps of beach volleyball and hit several rocks after I jumped the ocean. No worries, no serious injuries so far *g*… the girls playing beach volleyball were more attractive than the ocean anyway!!
For the first time all camping areas were booked out so we spend 2 nights at some backpackers. It was pretty nice to actually sleep in a more or less bed after all the camping, I’m really looking forward to my bed in Perth when I get back there!

Tomorrow we continue our drive north. We plan to be in Brisbane by Australia’s Day (Jan. 26th). I’ll keep you informed!

It rained the whole week, great. Today the sun is out again but now we’re about to drive to the mountains. We’ve seen all kinds of stuff in Sydney by wandering around in rain jackets. I can’t believe most Internet Cafes use Internet Explorer and I can’t believe that stupid prog is unable to upload text via JAVA Script… stupid thingie!

By the way, I just found out that Richard (classmate from highschool) was on a german TV Show (twice). “Da issa wieder am feixen, ne!…. weiter so!!!”

Yo, I hate this M$ Internet Explorer crap!!! I just spend 10 minutes to write you guys a nice review of the last week and what happened, the damn thing crashed and lost the text, I cannot believe it. I’ll write it in Notepad now and try to upload it when I’m done.

Ok I’ll summarize what I’ve written earlier:

From Melbourne we drove to Albury where we watched “Fun with Dick and Jane” for instance. Great movie, Jim Carey just rulzzz. After that we went 200m further to a nice nightclub, Most smaller australian cities have everything within a very small area, which is great.
After that we had the pleasure of climbing australia’s highest mountain. The whole hike took 5 hours so we spend the night in the mountains.
The next day we got to Canberra (the australian capitol, for those who don’t have any clue whatsoever) where we spend 2 full days visiting capitol hill, the war memorial and the national museum + more stuff. Nice city. Pretty small for a capitol but that makes it very bearable, just like Perth. (+ a fantastic genpool of girls, which needs to be mentioned!!).
Right now I’m in Ulladulla, what a name!! We were hoping to spend some quality time on one of the nice beaches around, but the weather in the east is not as constantly good as in the west. It’s pretty cloudy - “grey” - feels like home.

The plan:
- Pick up Simon tomorrow (flying into Sydney) and spending some days in
- Go to the blue mountains west of Sydney?!?!
- Do more stuff in the area
- Hang out some more on some beaches
- Work our Way up the coast to Brisbane where Kim is gonna fly back to Perth
- Simon and me will drive up north a bit further and then go inland to the real outback!
- Alice Springs, Olgas, McDonald Range
- Stuart Highway down south
- back to the west….

So, jetzt hab ich schon 3 Wochen Ferien und bin immer noch nicht wirklich weit gereist, jetzt reichts!Der (vorläufige) Plan:

Jawohl! Ich hab alle Klausuren bestanden! Ich kann wirklich nicht von mir behaupten besonders fleißig gewesen zu sein, was erwartet ihr?!?! Es gibt soviel andere Sachen zu tun. Habe also wieder einmal eine Nase dafuer gehabt, was ich mit wieviel Aufwand anzugehen hab. 7 Klausuren in 2 Wochen - also kaum Unterbrechungen - gehen aber doch ganz schoen auf die Nerven. Gut, dass das zuhause nicht so war.
Bis Freitag muss ich mich jetzt entscheiden, welche Kurse ich naechstes Semester belegen will. Wenn ich alles aus diesem Semester anerkannt bekomme, habe ich nicht mehr viele Pflichtveranstaltungen im naechsten Jahr, dann koennte ich eventuell ein paar BWL Sachen erledigen :) Schaumamal.

Wie ihr vielleicht gehoert habt gabs letztes Wochenende ein paar Ausschreitungen rassistischer Art in Sydney. Anscheinend war dabei auch jede Menge Alkohol im Spiel was mich dazu bringt ueber die Trinkgewohnheiten der Australier zu reden.
Der durchschnitts Australier drinkt schon mal mehr als der durchschnitts Deutsche. Zuhause trinken die Leute ja eher mehr am Wochenende, hier trinkt man mehr auf alle Tage verteilt. Ich kann mich auch an keine einzige Grillparty des Physikinstituts waehrend der Arbeitszeit erinnern, bei der es Alkohol gab. Das heißt jetzt nicht, dass die Leute hier im Institut staendig betrunken durch die Gegend laufen (tun sie nicht), ist mir halt nur aufgefallen. Zuhause verkauft doch auch keine der Mensen/Cafeterien Bier, oder hab ich das uebersehen?

Ok, without any excuse I kept you waiting more than 2 weeks now, sorry about that. Where do I start:
Rottnest Island is one of Perh’s most popular recreation areas. The island (10km long)is only a 25min trip away from Fremantle Harbour by ferry (50bucks). As soon as you approach the island, the water becomes far clearer than it is along the continental coastline, just look at the pictures and you’ll know what I mean. On the island itself there are no private vehicles allowed, so everybody brings either a bike or rents one there.
Rotto, as it’s called here got it’s name from some dutch sailors. They called it Rat-nest. I didn’t see any rat around though, instead the island is full of little animals called Quokkas (see pic) (they’re marsupiums like kangaroos).
Rottnest is great for snorkeling and for sunday afternoon walks. If you want to stay for several days (the last ferry leaves at 4pm) you can rent one of many houses. Hm…. I don’t want to say anything else, just look at the pictures, will ya?!?

Endlich sind all die Klausuren vorbei, ihr koennt euch nicht vorstellen wie froh ich darueber bin. Nach der letzten Klausur haben die Physiker sich wieder auf dem Dach eingefunden um ein paar Wuerstchen zu grillen und es wurde wieder jede Menge Bier konsumiert! Die Fotos davon werde ich in den naechsten Tagen online stellen.

Heute Morgen hab ich Jim (Amerikaner) auf den Flughafen gefahren (um 5 Uhr). Er kurvt jetzt noch in Singapur rum und fliegt dann auch gleich wieder nach Hause (Chicago). Schon krass, dass die 4 Monate so schnell vorbei gegangen sind, wenn ich daran denke, dass ich jetzt auch schon nach Hause fliegen muesste?!?! Nein danke, gut, dass ich ein ganzes Jahr bleibe, hab mich ja grade erst eingelebt!

Wir waren gestern mal wieder am Strand um ein wenig zu entspannen! Einfach herrlich da! Das Wasser wird auch immer waermer, sodass jetzt nichtmal mehr die australischen Weicheier ihren Neoprenanzug benoetigen (hab ich hier noch nie gebraucht!). Hab die Bilder von der BBQ party gestern nur frueher gepostet, weil ein paar Leute die schon unbedingt gucken wollten, wir waren natuerlich vorher am Strand, :). cya later

Nachdem ich den Nachmittag ueber am Strand war bin ich abends zum Grillen zu Phoebe gegangen, die damit ihre neue Wohnung eingeweiht hat. Ich war eigentlich garnicht eingeladen, Katrin hat mir Bescheid gegeben, danke nochmal. Hab viele Leute wieder gesehen, die ich am Anfang des Semesters getroffen hab und seit dem nicht mehr… und natuerlich jeden Menge neue. War echt cool da. Ich muss zwar so alles zweimal schreiben aber das ist auch nicht so viel aufwaendiger, kann ja relativ flott tippen. Hey, bevor ich mich ins Bett hau hab ich eben mal kurz nachgeschaut, was fuer Filme demnaechst im Kino zu sehen sind. Es gibt doch tatsaechlich nen neuen King Kong Film von dem ich bisher noch garnichts gehoert habe, hab eben die Vorschau geguckt. Da gibts sogar nen T-Rex und irgendwelche anderen Dinosaurier die im Busch rumlaufen, herrlich! .. das heißt wohl erstmal, dass ich mehr Zeit drinnen verbringen werde als draußen und das, obwohl das Wetter immer besser wird. Wie ueblich konnte ich mich natuerlich nicht dazu motivieren frueher mit den Vorbereitungen anzufangen. Die Tatsache, dass ich in Australien bin und es hier statt Wolken nen Ozean gibt macht die Sache ungemein schwerer, gibt halt viele andere Sachen zu sehen.
Habe 5 Klausuren ueber eineinhalb Wochen, das nervt etwas. Die sind zwar vom Umfang etwas geringer als zuhause, aber ich kann nicht fuer 5 Faecher gleichzeitig lernen, weshalb ich fuer manche wohl nur einen Nachmittag haben werde… wird schon schiefgehen, ich muss nur bestehen, da ich in Aachen sowieso keine Noten dafuer anerkannt bekomme *g*

Some weeks ago Apple announced the iPod Nano, the successor to the iPod Mini. Well, took me 2 days to get one and I sold my old 10GB one to one of my classmates. The new one is really small, it’s far smaller than the old one and far smaller than my phone (K750i). The size was the biggest selling point for me. You can easily take if for a run and carry it pretty much everywhere withouth noticing, the earplugs take up more space than the gadget itself. Battery life is fine for me (10 hours or more). Sound quality is great, as with all the iPods. here are more pictures

Some of you might now, that I’ve been working at Fremantle Hospital for nearly 10 weeks now. Now that I got the website up and running I’d like to write something about it. Doing that just came to my mind because I’m actually at work right now nothing to do for another 30minutes…

Yooo!… As usual I woke up (very!) early because dawn starts at 4:30, no kidding. Even though I have thick curtins it’s just too bright and I wake up. If I’m lazy I just hide under my pillow and fall asleep again but then it’ll be very hard to get up at a decent time. So what I do most of the times, I get up and go for a run along beautiful Swan river and Kings Park… lovely!
On the way back I pay “Barrett’s” a visit and get me some fresh buns.
